The boatline system uses catamarans: high speed ferry boats. The system works with minimal infrastructures: quay, ticket distributor, as simple as a bus station.
With a constant speed of 34 knots (70 kph), catamarans enables to cross their country in less then 3 hours instead of 5.5 by car, or much more without a car - having to change buses a minimum of 3 times. The boatline avoids road traffic and respects defined schedules.
With their capacity to host cars and heavy weight trucks, the ferries can also be used for commercial purposes. Instead of 'invading' the roads, vehicles also benefit from the boatline.
